help with boiler installation please

My sis had her boiler condemned by British Gas and even though I recommended she get qoutes from others she has used B.G for years and had faith in them.
BG man (BG1) came to give her a quote (£3,300  ) for new condensing a boiler, said it was 2 man job for 2days and payment due on the day the job finished.

Only one man (bg2) turned up on monday and said it as just him and it was going to be a 4 day job, (so arrangements had to be made with employer) and when he got to work he stated that a new water tank was also required and the pipes wouldnt go where bg1 said.

BG2 finished job this evening and asked for money and because my sis hadnt been able to get to bank he said his manager would collect it after 2.30 tomorrow

An hour after BG2 left the new boiler stopped working and after speaking to British Gas an engineer is coming between 8-6 tomorrow. this entails another day off work which will now be unpaid

If they fix it tomorrow, can she wait a week before paying them,to check the
boiler works properly,
Can she claim back the money lost in wages for tomorrow

Nthing much changes. In another life, i used to fit central heating on behalf of BG. You would get some !!!!!! of a salesman who knew nothing about engineering and would promise the earth to the customer to get a sale. The engineer then usually turns up and tells the customer what is actually possible. I was often left in situations whereby the customer was told the job would be done in say 2 days but i was then sent on my own to labour and struggle and inevitably it took longer. Quality takes time :)

I wouldnt rush to pay them. In fatcid make a complaint and negotiate a reduction.

You say day 5 is without pay for your sis, I presume that means days 1 to 4 were taken as holiday? If so claim 2 day pay as you have lost 2 days holiday as a result of their failure to send 2 men as you were advised they would do by the salesman. I may be being thick here but if BG send 1 man to do the job and it takes 4 days instead of 2 the net result is 2 engineers can kit 2 boilers in 4 days so why not do each job in 2 days rather than dragging them both out to four days. Better customer experience and no loss of revenue.
