Everyone keeps touching my laptop tft screen everytime they want to point something out to me on the screen. Well anyway one of ma friends (a girl) ran her nails down my tft screen, and I'm unsure if its damaged the screen or not. How could I tell if my screen has been damaged?
I can't see any difference in the graphics but I reckon she has done some damage
Anyways from now on If anyone tries to touch my screen they get yelled at, that and I keep my laptop closed when it is not in use, it keeps the dust down.

I cant really say what damage she could have done, unless she tried to do some damage by digging her nails into it really hard to cause scratches. To check if all the pixels are fine just display a black or white screen, then you will see if any pixels are a different colour.
I hate it when anyone touches the screen on my laptop or PC screen, I just carefully wipe my display with a soft yellow duster. If there are marks on it from fingers I just breathe on the display and wipe of carefully in a circular motion. Very hi-tech I know, but it works for me.0 -
You could download a small program called Dead Pixel Buddy which basically does what the previous poster said. It displays a solid colour yellow, blue, red etc.on your whole screen. It's freeware and you get it from http://www.laptopshowcase.co.uk/downloads.php?id=1 Why do people have to touch the screen, it really does my head in. Anyone doing it on my monitor gets a slap! :mad:This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

You can do this by selecting a "Blank" screen saver in the Display dialog box, and then pressing the Preview button to show the screen saver. (Obviously, don't move the mouse) This will show you a black screen which should hopefully show up any bad pixels in your screen.ZZRKarlos wrote:just display a black... screen
Note that sometimes, screens can be delivered with bad pixels. It doesn't happen so much to laptops because they are a Grade "A" screen. A lot of the cheaper PC TFT screens are Grade "B"s - they have probably been made quicker and haven't been tested  so they usually have (but not always) one or two bad pixels.

I go mental when anyone touches the screen. The finger marks you can see when you have the computer off don't look very nice either.Tharweb wrote:Anyone doing it on my monitor gets a slap!
I saw a screen once where it was slightly thicker, but it had a plastic cover over the screen so you couldn't touch the part behind and disturb the Liquid Crystals. (LCD = Liquid Crystal Display) It was probably intended for either somewhere where everything had to be just right, or it was for a young child's computer.
