  • I just got my son one today, it is version 2.5.

I am looking for good places to get the games from and more information about downloading stuff to it.

    Any ideas?

one of the best sites for info is the official site:

    http://www.yourpsp.com/psp/psp.html

(think you get a free case for your games too if you register)

and if you're looking to convert videos to run on it, this site helped me:

    http://www.pspvideo9.com/

all depends on what you're wanting to do with it

as for games, ebay is a good bet for titles such as world tour soccer, world snooker challenge 2005,lumines & gripshift (either because they come as bundles, or as "budget titles")

otherwise, it's the usual websites for games

    hope that helped.

I think I've seen this, but I don't think it comes with any games. In fact I beleive it may be a Value Pack and a 1GB card rather than a GIGA pack (though don't quote me on this).

silly question, but is the giga pack not just a psp with a 1 gig card?

or are there extra, ahem, "extras" :p

Yep, you get the carry case and a stand... Not sure what else though.

Anyway, as shown, the GameStation deal is the official giga pack :)

I think the only difference would be that you get a USB Cable with the GIGA pack as standard, but not with the value pack. From my point of view the advantage of the Value pack would be if it was version 2.00 - The GIGA Pack comes with version 2.5 as standard.

ditto- - actually from my son's pocket money point of view ;)
  • The Japanese standard black PSP Giga Pack is available from Cash Generators in Dunfermline for £199.99 (reduced from £249.99) - I understand that it provides better resolution than the UK version but is compatible with all UK games as it's region 2 (like the UK). They've got 5 or 6 left in the store.

yeah, the JAP models have a SHARP screen, we get a lesser quality SAMSUNG one...

and, remember that a firmware of 2.0 will become less and less useful as time goes on.. you have to upgrade to 2.5 to play gta already, and this is a trend that will continue.

i have yet to see real evidence of a working downgrader for 2.01-2.6... sobe warned!

The Jap ones are about £180 inc postage at Aria.co.uk
  • To run GTA liberty city stories you only need v2.0, which can be downgraded to 1.5 (my son has a v1.5, which I upgrade to 2.0 for GTA, then downgrade for his 'homebrew' stuff) So far nothing above firmware 2.0 can be downgraded.
