Please, please can somebody help me to decide which one to get as I urgently need one? Cannot decide between the 5150 or 9150. Am I right to think, that these PC has got everything it needs to just set up and use. I think somobody mentioned about there is no sound card or are there anything else I should add? I go through the dpecifications in the dell website, but most of the time I do not understand the meaning. Very basic user and that will be more sufficient for my needs. Might try downloading music but not heavily.
This is advertised in today's daily mail.
Dell Dimension 5150
E value code NPUK-012516
3 yr basic service package £99
Intel Penthium 4 Processor 630 with HT
Is this a good computer to buy for the price of £569 as advertised in the daily mail as a mid range computer. The only part I do not understand is the difference between the drive 16xDVD+-RW Drive and the drive 48xCD-RW/DVD combo drive in the Dimension 3100. I am looking for one who can write cd/dvd, I guess it must be the one in the 5150. Dell also advertised the 9150 dimension before for the same price, what’s the difference between these two? Which one is better value for the money? Also as I am a newbie with computer, will it be better to buy the three-year basic package. It seems reasonable at £99. 5 yrs ago, I bought a premium for £400 and the company tiny went bust.
I really appreciate anybody’s help and advice before the Dell sale starts soon. Thanks

I got a 9150 p4 630 processor, 256 graphics card, 150 g hard drive, 17"tft etc for £435 3 weeks ago. If you can wait for the deals to appear on this site then you will grab a bargain.
for info 9150 is much more adaptable with 3 spare PCI slots and generally comes with a graphics card.
Hope this helps

Hi
I don't think there much in these pc's apart from their number, although I'm not sure if the 9150 has the dual processor. I got the 5150, Pentium 4, 3.0ghz, 250hd, 256 pci express graphics card, speakers, keyboard, mouse, and DVD+-RW Drive, (this is the one that writes to Cd's and DVD's, upgraded to soundblaster live soundcard, plus 19"TFT Monitor for approx £618, downgraded warranty to 12mths collect & return.
Nice little machine, will do everything you want.
Hope this helps and you find what your looking for.0 -
I'm sure someone posted that their sale start's on the 29th.. so probably worth waiting.. January is a quiet month for them ,so lots of bargains normally.
Also just seen this thread. There's a link there to site which list all current offers at Dell.HLK

Re the £99 extended warranty, I believe that they are generally a bit of a rip-off, at least the ones as pushed by Currys/Dixons et al. I get through about 6 to 8 new Dell pc's per week, configuring them with company software and mostly sending them on to customers, although quite a few do stay in house. I can only say that it is very rare for one to malfunction, we get very few back, and of course it is sometimes not the computers fault.....
There is always sod's law of course!0
