Can you make a credit card balance IN credit????

Ok, so i'm not sure if i'm going crazy with this thought (everyone i've spoken to seems to thinl so) But, i'm sure i've heard somewhere i could put money into my credit card account to make it + money...
I'm asking this because i would like to book a holiday of £1200 but only have £500 limit on my card and obviously want to use my card as it is much safer....
please can someone help????????

Generally Card Providers don't look favourably on significant positive balances (with one noteable exception, Egg Money) and you would risk them freezing your account or returning the funds to their source.

However, if you use the card for a proportion of the total cost of the holiday (i.e. up to £500) and pay cash for the remainder, the whole purchase would benefit from Section 75 cover under the Consumer Credit Act. This would probably also save you paying a larger Credit Card transaction fee to the travel agent.

Alternatively you could explain the situation to your Card Provider and ask if you can use a positive balance for this specific purchase, but I don't think this should really be necessary.

You could ask them for an increase in the card limit too.
