Full balance DD not taken - Tesco CC

I've had a Tesco Club Card CC for abou 16 months now and have always paid the balance in full.

It was only about 8 months ago that I set up a DD for the full amount to be debited each month a few days before it's due.

The DD for the full amount has been collected ever since... except this last month.

The balance was just £62ish but they only debited about £27. I only happened to notice because I went online and my 'upto date balance' wasn't quite what I expected.

I rang CS and the chap confirmed that something wasn't right. He did however allow me to make Debit Card payment for the remaining amount and said it would reach the account before the due date.

He also said he would get the DD team to 'look into it'.

Has this happened to anybody before? Any possible explanations?

Martin's last newsletter mentioned that many CC providers were switching people's direct debits down to minimum payments without telling them...

I just read the other thread about that, in particular MBNA.

I havn't recieved any such letter (or anything on-line) about any changes.

I've just checked my last statement and it clearly states 'Your nominated bank account will be debited with the full blance...'

if you had a balance of 60 odd then 27 wouldn't be the minimum

You haven't had any refunds to the account or put any payments through part month have you?

in the past on my tesco cc they have treated a recent refund like a payment and subtracted it off the monthly balance amount due and taken a lower monthly payment

Also I think when I made a payment to the card for some reason they deducted this off the monthly payment too
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

I did have a refund (after the statement date) but I just didn't think they counted that as payment.

I've just checked my online account and the refund plus the £27 DD equals the Balance of lasts months bill.
