paying off a credit card

i got a credit card as i wanted the protection it offered on purchases. i had to set up a direct debit of the minimum repayment from my student account. i owe 299 on the card and want to pay it off in full this mmonth so not charged any interest:T . my minimum payment is 6 pounds. do i pay the whole 299 and then they wont take the minimum direct debit on the 3rd of december. or do i pay 299-6=293. and then they still take minimum payment.

sorry if this is a silly question im new at credit cards just wanted to check that im doing eveything right so no interest
thanks
becky

Different card providers have their own policies on DD's, and the impact of ad-hoc payments between statement and payment due dates.

    Who's your provider?

With Natwest, if you pay the amount in full they will still take the minimum direct debit. I would pay the full amount regardless as there may be residual interest.
