My fury is usually reserved for BTL-ers

Funny - didn't hear no fury vented at !!!!!!? when he announced he wanted to become a BTLer. Not a word from anyone - silence- total silence. When you think about the hatred that has been vented on this board over the months to all and sundry, that sort of rankles. It makes you realise that all that puffed up moral indignation was just hot air.

TBH I'm still thinking all that through. I am opposed to it, not least for I don't think it will make much financial sense in the darkest period of the crash, which may last a long time if it becomes a full out depression.

High unemployment, massive government spending cutbacks, and deflation forced wage-cuts (keeping in mind price falls of things you need to live on) won't be helpful for landlords expecting regular rent monthly payments of what might be then considered to be a lot of money.

So !!!!!! already knows I think it is a bad idea.

I'd go in with more fury except for recently reading someone at the other place, someone smarter than me on quite a few things, eyeing up the same strategy.

If we're going to see pain for many regular home owners, who didn't over-extend themselves but lose their homes anyway... well the thought of bottom feeders snapping up properties to rent to them.... when high mortgage repayments and high rents, in recessionary times, is not particularly conducive to recovery.

Much as I loathe to say it, I'd rather the Government, which has a fair bit of clout with forms of ownership in many banks (the ones we know of, and indirectly the BoE supplying liquidity to many a building society) puts a ban on people owning more than 2 homes in the UK, from here on in.

Although perhaps that would make the crash in prices even worse... well meaning intervention tends to do that in markets. That said, unlike the last crash, this time I don't think banks and building societies are going to be keen on lending to as many BTL entrepreneurs as we go further in to this crash.

lol Trev, not a bad idea. It can be the nicer, more cuddly version of HPC. All members to wear cashmere cardigans with leather patches on their elbows while posting. :)

HPC website seems a reasonbly, fair site.

I have been there many times and the logic is fine and they treat each other nicely too.

I am sad to see them maligned on here by people who pick arguemtns and are nasty to decent people.

Why shold people who predict large price falls be singled out for ridicule and abuse?

He was just winding a few of the trolls up. I can't believe you fell for it too.

Where have you been? It's not the HPCers who have been singled out for riducle. Do you know how much fury has been poured on the heads of anyone who owns a BTL on this board? Anyone who has a mortgage or has the smallest amount of debt? Pure poison. Turns out that all that self rightious indignation was just hot air and they are more than happy to ape the very behaviour of those they criicised.

Hehe I did my own following a guide on car forums. Not using the "widowmaker" jack in the boot, but proper 3 ton (autoexpress recommended jack) and axel stands.

The parts I sourced from ebay were to do my Mum's car but I can't work the bolts free so a guy on the car forums has agreed to do the job for £30 at his house for us, inclusive of a brake bleed.

Be careful if you apply the diamondbrite stuff yourself. There are two bottles I think which together create some sort of chemical reaction. I hear it can be really bad for your lungs if you breathe the stuff in - but that might be just a tale.

Have you got a big inheritance coming your way?
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

    To late:eek: .

I did it out side anyway the one smells like tricoethylene so if used indoors you would be on the celling in no time.
But there is no major chemical reaction, part tale I think to make a reason for costing such a stupid amount.;)

Not that I know of, unless perhaps you want to write me in to your Will as a special thank you for many helpful and well meaning posts.

No older relatives except for one living parent with an average house that is fully paid off, <£1500 in savings, living on a £10,000 income per year, with other basic house costs and maintenance support for a few luxuries from two of her four kids (myself included).

I did not do that as I have a child so the interiors will be destroyed anyway.;)

Yes Really, I came to a similar conclusion that the sealant part is less harsh (more natural?) than some other sealants, after checking and finding info at HonestJohn forums.

I'm pleased to know your health isn't at any risk, and agree the application isn't worth £190 - £300 charge from professionals.
