Over the last week or so, my I.E 7 keeps stopping and restarting.
Windows has said that "toolband.dll" may be to blame. This seems to be a bit of spyware. I've tried Norton (which is my antivirus etc. software and yes I know it's "bloatware") but to no avail.
I've googled it and get a few offers to remove if only I download and pay for their software.
I'm running Vista Home Premium
Can anybody help, please?

You need to download, install, update and run a full scan with Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (link) and see what that can do.
When it finishes, you will get a report - copy and paste that entire report here, please.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0 -

Basmic, many thanks. Have downloaded and run and, hopefully , eliminated all and also immunised against future intrusions. (OK, my son and his mate, who is a wiz on this sort of stuff were here today!)
But the "wiz" says to thanks to you as well, so "Thanks from the wiz"
Browntoa, thanks also. I have printed off your suggestion and may well do it in the future.
What a lovely, helpful lot you all are!0
