Clearing Your Loan or Credit Card Debt Completely
Did anyone see the BBC Panorama programme on November 10th? It showed how a couple have managed to clear £100, 000 of credit card and loan debt through the same process that 925 cards – https://www.925cards.co.uk - and their parent company Credit Issues use. I did think that maybe using this approach to clear credit cards debts was OK, but was bit was a bit uncertain about the ethics of using the same approach for loans – after all I suppose you should know what you are getting into really – but the attitude and the approach of the recovery agencies in that programme convinced me otherwise. Now I ‘m inclined to say “why not go for it!”.
And it seems that this process is pretty real and actually does work. If you go the website of 925 Cards parent company, https://www.creditissues.co.uk, they’ve just had two straight case wins. One client had a personal loan with the Bank of Scotland amounting to £5,427.97 (including interest). On October 22nd a deal was done and the debt was reduced to just £1,600 all in! Since then, they’ve also gone one better with Barclays. The total debt owed by that customer was £2,961.87 and had been sold off by Barclays to Intrum Justitia. Credit Issues started work on October 1st 2008 and a reply from Intrum 17 days later said they weren’t able to provide the information as required by the Consumer Credit Act. The lawyers got the full balance of £2,961.87 written off.
Sounds like the scheme is worth exploring at least, although given how complex and time consuming it all is I think I’d rather leave it to legal experts. And if they do win, Credit Issues say that they cap their success fees to a maximum total of £1,000, depending on the amount recovered obviously, so their service doesn’t look like it will break the bank either.
