Help - Video compression for email

Please Help,

Have taken some short video clips of our 16 week old baby over her 1st Christmas. Now need to send them to Grandparents via email

Which is the best way to send in a small a file as possible, but is still easy to play at the other end?

Video files range from 6.5MB to 22MB when played using Windows Media Player

Cheers

Try and zip them up using Winzip.

    Available from winzip.com.

    Its free for 45 days.

You can use it in wizard format and it should guide you through.

There will be free versions of similar software on download.com as well.

oh yeah, I think Windows Xp can automatically unpack them as well at the other end but if not another program will be needed that can open .zip files.

Only thing i can think off is that i have free web space from my ISP provider that i am not using, could i upload a file into there and then password protect it prior to giving family the url?

my god! sounds like i am an old pro at this web stuff.....truth is i wouldnt have a clue of how to do it!!!!

    Anybody any input please?

You can upload to a web server quite easily, the first thing to know is that
you dont get that much free space, and just how big is this file?
  • You can upload any files up to a max of 50mB each for free here. Then all you need to do is copy the web address links for the uploaded files and e-mail the links to the grandparents.

  • i would imagine that the files would be no more than 50MB

my ISP is eclipse and not sure how much free space i get ( looks like it is only 20MB) :-( ). but i was hoping to create a folder on the webspace and password protect it so that just the family can get access to it

would then regulary 'dump' files into the folder for them to download to their pc?

Only other option is that i do also have a website business (that i pay somebody to look after the techie side) can a file be created in the background of my site?

    Is this possible?

  • Cheers for the replies...I looked at the post in post 5 but i dont think i am mistaken in that you cannot post video clips... it clearly states the types of file you can upload and i dont recall seeing any format for video

Thats the sort of help i am wanting please

like i have also posted, i could upload it to my website, but i have not got the slightest idea of how to do it!!!

Appreciate any help you could give
