You will probably find they won't fit in there as they are not gusseted bags they are for cards.

Yup, you were right :( They arrived this morning, just popped upstairs and tried to put the glasses in, the top was just a bit too wide so it split the bag. If they were a tiny bit smaller they would have gone in as well :( So I think I'm going to have to do some improvisation with splitting the bags and sticking them together so they fit and hope they don't look too rubbish  They look like a great size for putting my cookies and homemade sweets in though :o

On a happier note, I was very impressed with the seller, arrived really quickly, packaged well and she included some strips of pretty card (she's a cardmaking seller) and one large card bag as a gift (which is good because I can put one of my pots in it :rotfl: )
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important

Oh dear :( Hopefully you will be able to get some use out of them. :o

Bought some choc coins today in tesco. £1.23 BOGOF. Also saw they had some Lindt choc reindeers £3 each- wrapped in gold. Bit too expensive for my pots as I am going to put in the £2 'pot of gold' scratchcards but may be of use to someone... :D

heres the snowman soup thread :

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1189961

it's basically hot choc powder, choc chips and marshmellows in a cone. If you read the thread it should answer all your questions

    Hi all :hello:

Came onto this thread last night for the first time WOW! Was so excited by the idea of pots of gold that I literally couldn't sleep. :D

I'm making 15 pots, for adults and children, some gold, some with other themes. Went to poundstretcher today and found 6 dessert bowls for £2 (X2), some candy canes (possibly for snowman soup?) and socks (for sock monkeys but that's another story lol).

Then off to Wilkos where we found five kiddies tubs with some play things already in for £1.25 each, perfect for younger children, lots of stationery including their basic crayons for 12p and calculators for 60p! :T

Finally went to Aldi and filled up on their cheap gold wrapped choc eclairs for 38p a pack, gold coins for 69p and some more 'sophisticated' chocs at £1.25, which will do all the adult pots. I just need to get some werthers original and scratch cards, or £5 notes to finish them off, then I need to wrap them. I'm absolutely cream crackered now but really, really excited.

I will cost them up later, something else I'm looking forward to, oh how I've changed in the last year.

Thanks to everyone on here for all the ideas. When I do finally make them (probably in the next week) I will post pics up.

I was thinking about using a beer glass as they are 75p for 4 at matalan right now and padding out the bottom a bit with tissue paper, do you reckon this would work or will it look a bit silly in a big glass?

Personally I think it would look silly in a glass unless the glass was full and had no tissue paper in the bottom.

If you have a morrisons near you then they have clear glass desert bowls for £1.99 for 4 so just under 50p each, they look quite nice and would be perfect!

Hi, Does anyone have and wording/poem that could be used for pots of gold with no scratch cards, just sweets?

I have done search but could not find an answer so apologies if this is answered somewhere else. Thanks
