  • Ah, I see, sorry I am a bag of nerves today. Thought you were picking on me.

Its not so much colleagues, I work in a big institution with lots of different departments, and I am not friends with everyone, its just the thought of people i dont know gossiping about me and that getting back to my friends etc. I would rather keep my dirty washing to inside my house, not at work. Besides, my "friend" will be viscious with it as well. Oh well, thanks for all your advice, will have to see what happens x
  • Hi TF

What sort of written agreement? Could Louise just write one out, and put whatever date necessary? And would that then make the debt 'hers', and therefore included in the BR?
  • It sounds like your colleagues and everyone else will find out about your BR (unless TF's plan worked). What I'm getting at is, !!!! happens, people gossip, but people are also supportive and understanding. So it might not be all bad...

To make it legally binding I would have thought it would have to be one signed and witnessed by a soliciter and as it is I doubt weather the loan company would be happy with it. You wouldn't be able to do so retrospectivly.

I am afraid as hard as it is and with hindsight etc. it is never a good idea to borrow off friends and family.

I know what you mean louise. I used to think i had BANKCRUPT written on my forehead and used to look at peoples faces to see if they were lookng at me differently:o . Paranoia is another drawback to bc:eek: along with all the other feelings.Used to imagine all my neighbours talking and looking at my house saying all sorts of things about me:o . Work was the same. Only my boss knew but wondered if he had told anybody, used to avoid talking about money, and lets face it everybody talks bout money or lack of it these days,in case i let somehing slip or made myself look a !!!!!

If your friends are true friends, and you certainly find out who is when bc;) ,then they will support you no matter what this person says.

Hold you head high girl, you have done nothng to be ashamed of.

Now where is that level head i spoke to the other day:D

  • Thanks everyone.. I know, i understand why she is un-happy, I have been paying it for 2 years, there is still 3 years left. oh!!!! I will just have to be upfront about the loan to the OR, and see what he says, if he says I cant include her debt, then I will have to look into drawing something up with a solicitor like TF mentions above, so that she has a safety net of sorts. She hasnt replied to the email last night about the news, which is making me feel worse. Thanks again for all your advice. I will keep you posted on what happens. It was such a stupid thing to do, but it seemed fine at the time, and i was going to pay if off when we sold the flat. I didnt foresee this happening at the time. But none of that makes it any better for her. Thanks Dalip, but I do feel like I have/am doing something to be ashamed of, I cant pay my friend back, i am ashamed of that. I already know my neighbours are talking because I keep getting debt collectors knocking on. Had another one this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe I should run away to spain! :) xxx
  • When I say cant pay her back, i will pay her back, but i cant pay now for a bit, which is breakin the contractual agreement... thats what i mean. x

    Hi

I'm afraid I can't be much help with your problem with your friend. But I can tell you that you will feel better when the BR has gone through. Try to take one day at a time at the moment and stop beating yourself up, theres a lot of people struggling (you'll probably find that people at work are in the same boat) and things will get easier)

Just taking control in small ways ( shopping etc) can make you feel better. And keeping talking also helps so if you need to chat theres always someone here
