It would depend on what size his conservatory was but we bought a small one from B&Q and it does the job adequately. It was about £80 but that was in the summer, they have got 15% off at the moment.

Try the Ebac dehumidifier website - they had a clearance sale recently and reduced some old stock to half price with free delivery - I think they had combination heater/dehumidifiers, as well.
Tesco also sell them on-line (with clubcard points) so that could be another option if the Ebac sale has finished.

As Alison-B said, you need to get the right size, but they usually state this in their description - i.e., 'suitable for a 1/2/3/etc bedroomed house', so it's quite easy.

If the intention is to make the conservatory into a habitable room all year round, then it may be anon-starter. Conservatories have very poor insulation, and, even if 2kW is enough, it will cost close to 20p an hour to run. Just for the odd occasion, it's fine though.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

we've sorted the heater, got an oil filled radiator in kwik save for £19.99 which seems to do the job. it mainly just to keep the chill off so its only on a low setting. just the dehumidifier to sort out now. thanks for all your help.
