Gas bill gone up again whilst in credit

I think if you reach £200 in credit they refund you it all automatically. This happend to me. I built up my credit over summer, and when they reviewed my account just before the winter they refunded me the lot and then bumped my monthly payments up to cover the winter.0

We recently switch from standard (I know!) to click 6 and BG have taken the opportunity to increase our Gas direct debit from £68 to £124 per month, we are already over £210 in credit! £68 has always been more than enough, I don't thing Gas has gone up that much, they took a meter reading this month too.
My question is if they decide to be awkward and refuse to return to a reasonable payment, if I cancel the direct debit can I remain on Click 6 and what would the other payment options be?0 -
Surely moving from standard to click6 should reduce your payments? I would phone them up if i were you and ask them to explain why your payment has nearly doubled. Even more so when your in credit by that much!!
They should be able to justify the increase before refusing to return to a reasonable payment.0 -

Well as BG offer a discount for both Direct Debit and Standing Order I would assume you can pay quarterly
(the assumption being that quarterly payment is the baseline on which the DD and STO discounts are based.)
Is your £210 credit from your last bill, or from looking at your account on-line?
Don't forget that with BG all your monthly payments are credited and shown immediately, but your account is only debited quarterly.
e.g. My account could be showing me as £210 in credit today, but tomorrow a quarterly bill for, say, £400 be debited and I would have a £190 debit balance.0 -
Hi
I have my latest bill with me today, I am assuming I am on standard tariff as it doesn't actually state anything. I have used 2008.87 kWh over 93 days from 5th Aug to 5th Nov. So I am guessing I use approx 21kWh gas per day. Does this seems like £82 per months worth? Is this High?
Thanks0 -

No it doesn't seem high, however it is impossible to estimate annual consumption from one quarterly bill that includes part of the summer.
It is also possible that the start meter reading on that latest bill, or the end meter reading is estimated(denoted by an E).
You really need to give an actual(not estimated) annual consumption figure in kWh to work out your annual cost. However if you are on BG's standard tariff, paying £82 a month(£984 pa) would equate to approx 24,000kWh pa.
You are aware that BG's Standard tariff for gas is about 10% more expensive than their Click 6 tariff? and Click 6 electricity is very conpetitive0
