Halifax closing Cardcash?

I found a document from HBOS called 'Removing Barriers to Banking' published in August. It states that:
"Cardcash is one of HBOS’s two historic social banking accounts. It dates back to the mid 1980s. A major project for 2008 is to migrate Cardcash customers either to Easycash, or to a Halifax Current Account, depending on which we feel will best suit their circumstances.

Those customers for whom a basic bank account is still appropriate will move to an Easycash account, offering all the same facilities of Cardcash with the added benefit of Post Office access. Cardcash customers for whom a Halifax Current Account is appropriate, will benefit from new facilities such as a multi-function debit card and the option of a cheque book."

I know Cardcash has been closed to new customers for some time, I was just wondering if any other Cardcash holders had heard from Halifax about this?

I've got a Cardcash account and haven't heard anthing from them about swapping my account over.
    :p
  • I have a old Cardcash account, although it's had £10 untouched in it for about 5 years.

I can't say I've heard anything about it being transferred over though?

The point that jumps out for me is:

"The remaining (and larger) group of Cardcash customers are those for whom a Halifax Current Account is appropriate. The Halifax Current Account provides customers with a fully featured bank account. If they wish, customers may apply for an overdraft. This will be provided if appropriate
We have written to all of our Cardcash customers, explaining what the changes mean. In every case, customers will get a better deal. Customers will keep the same sort code and account number and they will not need to make any changes to salary payments, direct debits or standing orders. "

Do you want the better account?

Or do you want to wait to be transferred to Easy Cash (which is very similar to Cardcash from what I can work out, but has slightly more genorous charging structure if you make a mistake!).

My Cardcash account changed fairly recently automatically to an Easycash account. They contacted me about a month before they changed it. I already had a Current Account, so they didn't ask whether i wanted to change it to that!
