Care Home Fees

I understand the bit about if you have more than £22,500 you have to pay the fees in full, but what happens when this money runs out?, at, say £500Pw, it isnt going to last long-does the local authority then pay all/part of the fees?

Comments

  • Once savings fall below £22,500 Social Services will pay part of the fees. This is done on a means tested basis taking into account savings and income. Once savings fall below £13,500 they are no longer taken into account. These figures usually change every year. If you are self funded you can claim Attendence Allowance.

There is good advice / information on the Help the Aged website.
  • They wont evict your loved one because they have no money. Social services will then fund it.
