Virgin Broadband intermittant - anyone else?

I'm in South Wales on Virgin BB
It started last night whilst trying to connect to this forum - timing out. I just turned on this morning and I couldn't connect at all to this forum or a lot of other sites, some sites connected, but I guess that is because the problem - whatever it is - is intermittant.
I checked Virgin's service status - no known issues
I use firefox, but also tried IE and it was the same - dead.
Edit: just tried IE again and it is now working, so there was definately something up with the connection.
For the last 3 minutes connections have been fine, good enough to come here and start a new thread, I only hope when I click send now that the connection is still good. Edit: phew!

Theyre currently (And have been for about 3 months), upgrading ALL areas they cover
This invariably means when theyre doing your area, it WILL create problems
Without anything else running, run this speedtest ~

If the figures are nothing like they should be. Phone them (Assuming you have a virgin phoneline) on 151. get through to the broadband dep and tell them your having problems
Dont listen to any of their 'check this and check that' garbage. Just ask them to see if the lines ok (Make sure it IS slow when you call them)

I have constant issues with my Virgin broadband but at the moment all seems OK. Tried the test, got a good result, problem seems to be when it works its fine, when it's dead, it's dead. So far the problem has not come back, it was only the first 10 minutes after I switched on, it's not usual for it to be dead for the first few minutes.0 -
Mine seemed to vary majorly for 2 or 3 months (And i was very close to leaving them)
Sometimes id get the full 10 meg speed
other times it would slow to a crawl (like 0.5 meg)
And other times it was completely dead (intermitantly):idea:0
