Thank you ampersand. What a wonderful site this is so much help and information so willingly shared. I am really beginning to wonder how I ever managed without it. Am hoping to go with my sister next week to try and choose one and this does sound really good.

You're welcome gm - may I suggest you do a bit of groundwork first and check with your nearest John Lewis, then Curry's(even print out the 2 pages to have with you)taking note of who you spoke to/when/etc. It's worth it -

Letter from John Lewis just received and confirms they will pricematch Curry's £89.99 with the free extra radio:

I now have my Sony things from the splendid John Lewis(came out @ £89) and am loving BBC7 on the little free DAB radio. Also heard the oval ball boys of my fair countree trounce Wales hier on 5Live Sports Extra - it's brilliant. Haven't even undone the big box yet.
Hope you manage to get this grandmasu - I also see the same BOGOF in a local paper in a local retailer's ad. so you should ask there, too, if you're not near a John Lewis.
It must be manufacturer-engendered.

Just a quick update to thank everyone for their help,:beer: my sister and I went to John Lewis which was extremely busy and were not at all sure so delayed buying. Today took my mother shopping and she wanted to look in Currys where we found a Sony micro system for £69.99 and although did not have preset buttons had VERY clear orange writing showing you the programme you were tuned to.

It also had the CD and Tape recorder that she wanted, to top it all an extremely helpful lad called Ranj helped her and so she decided to buy it. We got it home, set it up and are very pleased with the purchase. The only snag now is What are we going to buy her for Christmas?
