sims 2 - pc hanginig.....advice please

Hi,

bought kids sims 2 for christmas to use on two dell pc's.... a dimension 2400 and 3000. Both have 512 MB memory, but the 2400 seems to hang sometimes.....question is, is sims 2 to 'big' a game for these pc or does it just need a better graphics card....if so, any advice to a reasonable priced one?

thanks.

I think the dimension 2400 has on board graphics only which may be the problem and some dells do not have an AGP port for Graphics cards, just checked yours does not !!

  • He won't NEED an AGP Slot though! Perhaps PCI or PCI Express (The latter is twice as good as AGP 8X).

My first idea would be to check you have all up to date (They don't need to be Microsoft Signed!) Graphics Drivers for your card, from Manufacturers Website!

    thanks....

only have pci slots, no agp, and reading up on dell forums, seems can only use a geforce 5500 card, as ati radeon etc cause problems with dells?

will check websites for drivers, using intel extreme onboard graphics, so at least a card should free memory up!

i would agree...... tis the graphics card causing the problem, when sims 2 was released, biggest bone of contention was the graphics recommendation was way above what most people have as standard.
smile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to.... ;)

    Hi
I have a dell comp, and I have an PCI ATI Radeon X600 256mb Hyper Memory, which came in the comp, and I've had no problems, so this is the first I've heard of this.
