I have noticed in the past that Currys have not listed all features of electrical goods - I would definitely check elsewhere before making assumptions about goods on their website. With regard to the remote control, it is difficult to imagine them selling a TV without a remote control as for most modern TVs you need to use the remote control in the setting up of the TV. It is possible that a TV might be sold without a remote at a discounted price if the remote was missing but that would be likely to be more clearly stated as a "manager's special" or something along those lines - at least it should be.

The TV spec on Dixons (Currys sister company) also said no remote - hard to belive as it is an "interactive TV" with freeview. Personally I think they have made a mistake in the listing. Could always phone them and check. Save money on their 0870 number by checking for an alternative number at https://www.saynoto0870.com
You're quite right - the Currys website is wrong in saying the set does not come with a remote control.

I've been to the local store to see the set and to confirm that it includes a remote control. TVs have the minimum of controls on the set, and cannot be used without a remote. I thought the website was making it clear that these sets were discounted by £100 partly because the purchasers would have to buy a remote control separately.

Yes bought mine 2day, my currys only had 2 left. Comes with remote as standard.

Had JVC one next to Daewoo one and have to say I thought the Daewoo one looked alot better. Lets just hope it performs as good!

sorry to be techno stupid about this, but does buying this tv eliminate the need for a separate freeview box?

yes is the answer, as its built in most of the times tvs have both the digital and analogue so you can switch between both.

  • Has anyone been able to test if the TV works with PAL 60Hz signals or NTSC?

    Hi
This is a bit of an old thread but I'm wondering if anyone has successfully got the integrated freeview channels through the Daewoo tv? I bought one of these but can't integrate it and have had to keep the separate freeview box. Very frustrating. We have tried several times by the way - so maybe it's just faulty??

Oh and mine did come with a remote control too!
    Hope you can help.
    Thanks

we get the freeview channels and they are good adion like tmf or something that shows the most haunted etc.

There is a button under the arrow buttons labeld d/a that switches from anlogue to digital and vice versa in digital mode you get the digital menu and the auto set etc.

I would class is as faulty if you can get channels via your freeview box and not through the t.v.

Something worth checking is if this TV has two freeview tuners so that you can record one channel whilst watching another. Something to also bear in mind that if you do want to record something from freeview you will have to have your TV turned ON. A friend of mine has a Freeview integrated TV but he also keeps a set top box for recording from as he says it is a right pain in the ar*e to do it from the TV. Personally I would find this too inconvenient as I rarely watch TV as it happens, I record several programmes over the week and then have a marathon TV session over the weekend.

i would say they are on par with goodmans tv which isnt bad if you want it as a spare tv. I have had a goodsman tv in my bedroom for over 4 years now without a single problem and it cost me just under £165 but it isnt flat or have freeview but i guess you would expect tv to be improved since then for that price, so price wise seems ok with the discounts.
