Updating your signature as soon as you pay any off is really motivating. You will soon be chuffed when money comes out of your account just so you can update your signature. Or is that just me?! ;)

Anyway best of luck, you can do it! :D

  • Thank you for the kind words Sophie (scottish living in Kent - that's worse than me, Wiltshire boy living in Manchester!) - I've updated now and you're right it does feel good dispite the recent bad behaviour! I notice yours is very neat and colourful too haha!!
Had to add in a new line : Total Debt Cleared this year, that made me feel better :)

OK i've been a real idiot and gambled a lot more than I normally do over the last 2-3 weeks. I feel totally guilty, the extra money I gained this month should've been saved towards Xmas and trying to get a savings fund going.

    SLAP!

Welcome to the club Dan, hopefully we can help keep you on the straight and narrow.

One of the things i found that helped was to identify when i was most likely to gamble or if it was when i was in a certain frame of mind. Try to keep off the computer when you are in that frame of mind and try to keep yourself busy.

Pop in to the gambling support thread too - there are quite a few of us who are trying to kick this.

    good luck.

  • Thanks George. I needed that.
Well...Sunday was a struggle, Monday was fine and Tuesday has been ...remkarbley fine...!! I've been getting out and about more and doing more music stuff. Feeling good about this, can't remember the last time I didn't do something betting related for a whole week, the pressure will come on Saturday, but I can do this! :D

You are doing great! If you find the spare money a temptation you might spend some of it on paying your friend off early? It would be a nice surprise for them, remind them how important it is to you to repay them (I can tell that from your posts!).

  • Pressure on today, but ... SIX days not a single bet placed, no money has left my account and I'm feeling good about this. Today will be tough -so much racing and football to get stuck into but I'm going out at 4 and resisting all temptation :)
Good news I've been offered to do another gig on Tuesday night which will cover xmas expenditures and more so I'm feeling even happier!!

Firefox, the money I owe my mate covers a loan payement used for a previous business venture between us (that didn't work out!). The last payment is in March, so although I say I owe my 'friend' this money, it's really my half of the loan payment that's in his name so paying him any extra wouldn't make sense if you see what I mean?
    Cheers

    Well done Dan.

Keep up the good work. Just try to stay vigilant so it doesn't sneak up on you and don't celebrate anything with a bet.

Looks like you're making good progress. :D

  • Well it's boxing day and I feel I'm making progress. NO money has left my account for gambling because I've allowed myself to play poker freerolls for fun and also the daily free scratchcard offered through Littlewoods Bingo. I'm not wasting my own money and I still believe my signature to be accurate as I haven't deposited any funds, bet with money or walked into a bookies and gambled.
I actually won a freeroll last night and that balance now stands at £11.60.
My scratchcard balance stands at £6.00 after gaining some free £1 donations!

Hope you're all having a nice Xmas... roll on payday I'm down to my last £10 but the fridge is full and I still have 2 bottles of wine left :rotfl:

  • Happy New Year people!!

Just popped in to update the signature and announce that I'm still not gambling, life is good. ;)

Got my annual review forms through today for my IVA. Seems quite straightforwards although there is a niggling doubt that because my wages have gone up £85 per month they may try and take more money. Some of my outgoings have gone up too though so hopefully this will be considered. We'll see...

    Cheers
