Hi there epsilon...and thanks for your reply

The broadband is stuck for the next ten months, I'm tied in with a deal and admit it could be better financially for me but with BT I cannot fault their service so I don't mind too much considering the amount of time I spend surfing.

I'll investigate those cash back sites, thanks!

Yeah as I only use one gambling site I know how much I spend and where it goes, I never walk into a bookies anymore which is good. The problem with depositing money into these other sites that you mention is the discipline to withdraw it and not spend it!!!

Roll on next month and new signature update.....

Have a good weekend everyone!! :T

    Hi Dan,

apologies for the delay in replying :o yes, actually my £8 a month does cover the solution as well as lenses which I reckon is pretty good as I had to buy some a while back & the usual 3 months supply cost £17  . It doesnt however, cover the cost of a sight test but as I receive working tax credits , then it's free anyway :) It may be worth checking out the cost of a sight test on it's own as you could have been conned into thinking you're getting a good deal when actually you're not  . Excuse the cynicism - since joining up here I trust no one other than fellow DFW's to give me the best deal ;) .

One thing I have learned is it's always worth a few moments research before buying anything :D

  • Thanks for the feedback Lula and halight! :D

Ok my last £20 for the month has GONE on food to get me through the week!! Sensible lad eh? oh and... I wrote down 2 bets that I fancied doing today, both would've been £5 each, both LOST - so that makes me feel better, I haven't wasted money. Having said that my footy team lost too so not in the best of moods!!

So... the next six days are gonna be tough but I seek inspiration from these threads and know it can be done!! ;)

Returning the favour by posting on your diary!!!

Could you lower living costs by moving somewhere cheaer or getting another flatmate? Dunno if that's feasible?

You'll be fine for the next 6 days, I just managed a fortnight on a few pounds....if I can do it trust me anyone can!

You're doing really well, good luck!

  • Ok so it's the start of a new month, which means payday ;) a small bonus ;) which has taken me over what I'm allowed to earn :o but I've spoken to my IVA company and I can pay that back at any time once my annual review is complete next Feb. I will be sensible though and keep the excess to one side and resist dipping into it over xmas - will be hard though - good news another successful payment to the company...that's number 10 and next week I'll have paid a bit more back to my friend.

So this is just a brief post to update my signature and keep telling myself I'll get there slowly but surely!

    :santa2: Hi Dan

Great diary, I don't know how I missed it before! I (luckily) don't know anything about gambling but it sounds like you're doing really well.

Have you joined any of the challenges? the 'no spend day' challenge is a good one if you're up for it.

Ooh, what do you play in your band??

Hi Bowski, sorry I didn't reply earlier, I shall look into these challenges mate, not sure if they're for me though!!

Well it's only the 7th of December and there's been good news and bad news since pay day.
Good news was with the extra money from my small bonus this month I managed to pay off the minidebts that I owed people, pay off my mobile phone bill that hasn't been paid since October in FULL, buy my train tickets to go home with over xmas and knock off another £100 to my mate.

Bad news, because of the extra money and knowing I don't have to pay any extra money back to my IVA company untill March I starterd betting more than I usually do, mainly out of boredom. I've lost £60 this month already - this is not good, that's two weeks food shopping and present money down the drain.

I've done a quick calcluation and I should be ok with eveything I have left in my bank to survive this month and pay back MOST, not ALL of what I was going to pay my IVA company in March without borrowing any more money this month.

Off to update my signature now...

    Cheers
    Dan
