Freeview Problems

I have a freeview box that is about 4 or 5 years old, can't quite remember.

I have moved to a completely different part of the country and found that it doesn't work very well in the 2 houses I have stayed in, at opposite ends of the town, however my friend has just bought a new cheap freeview box and it works perfectly in a house at the other end of the road!

Someone said that the digital signal has changed (or something) so some of the old freeview boxes don't work as well any more. Do you think this is whats happened? I don't want to buy a new freeview box, however cheap they are, if it's not going to work!

Thanks :o

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but have you done a "Store Channels" to the freeview box, i.e. re-tuned it?
Of course, I may just be talking b****cks!
  • No worries, yes I re-tuned it... I need to check what model it is and check the spec as per the thread in the link above... Thanks though :p
  • i know that my old freeview box is rubbish in 'weak signal' areas, whereas my new one is great, I suspect you are best off just buying a cheap new one
    :)

Have you re-scanned your box, it's true about the signal, some of my channels have different numbers now.

    :)

Can I suggest that if you are buying new, you buy a cheap pvr. I got a digihome which didn't cost much more than a set top box and I have used it time and time again. In fact everyone in the family has got one now.

It is just so easy to record programmes using the 7 day guide, is just as good at picking up the freeview signal and you can watch one channel, record another.
