Credit card application letter from MBNA - can I discover how they have my address?

I've recently received a letter from MBNA inviting me to take out a credit card. I've never previously banked / had a card with them, the address is opted out on the mail order preference scheme and on the voters register. The only other people who might have passed on the address are my bank (so unlikely), Vodafone or Tesco. So I'd like to know who it was so I can ensure they're not giving out my address left right and centre.

Is it possible to contact someone like MBNA and demand to know the source of my address details?

They have probably got your name and address off a mailing list.
If it bothers you that much have a bit of fun with them by filling in the application with a joke name and address and return it to them.

Most likely scenario is that you haven't ticked/expressed 'no' to 3rd party marketing preferences with some other company.
All you need to do is ring them up and get them to take you off their list.

You can always call and ask them - don't know why you'd want to demand them though . I value my privacy but I wouldn't waste energy doing more than asking them to take me off their list.

Have you had credit cards before? MBNA run/have run a multitude of cards so there's a good chance you've been a customer of theirs in the past.
