NI Presbyterian mutual society, Short of funds for withdrawal?

Looks like even Shaun himself is getting confused there...
And if being an "investor" is such a dangerous thing/designation as compared with being a safe/sensible/protected "saver", why do regulatory authorities allow High Street banks to offer savings products such as Northern's "Midas Investment" account to us gullible savers - sorry, investors.
Well, you know what I mean - people with money (their savings) on which they want to earn interest.
http://www.northernbank.co.uk/en-gb/Personal/Savings-and-investments/Savings/Products/Pages/Midas-Investment.aspx
Ironic if some of savers who exited PMS put their PMS savings (which Shaun says were investments) into a "Midas Investment" account (billed as an investment account but seems to be for savings).
Clear? No possibility of public confusion?
Noticed point on Slugger O'Toole, but site/link down at present.0 -

And of course us oldies who remember
"You get a smarter investor at the Alliance and Leicester"
know of course now (thanks to Shaun) that it should have been
"You get a smarter saver at the Alliance and Leicester"

The Industrial and Provident Societies (2006) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2006, passed by parliament on 5 June 2006 was to come into effect on 1 July 2006. This legislation brought Northern Ireland into line with the remainder of the UK insofar as Friendly Societies were concerned but failed to provide the safeguard of the FSA. /Quote
?? The latest copy of Rules of The Presbyterian Mutual Society which I got when this crisis broke states
"Registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Acts (Northern Ireland 1969 and 1976)
In other literature about the PMS I read that it operated under Credit Union rules.
Stennitt's research paper on Credit unions to NI Assembly
2007 .
This clearly points out the shortcomings in legislation in NI compared to England, Wales and Republic of Ireland.
www.niassembly.gov.uk/enterprise/2007mandate/research/creditunion.htm
It has a link at the end to 'Register of Credit Unions'. PMS is listed alphabetically there.

Sad that DETI or our First Minister and his MLAs did not read it. Probably too busy eating in London or relaxing in expensive armchairs. There also was the stand-off of the NI Assembly Executive.
In Scotland the Scottish Assembly has a number of things to its credit but for our devolved administration about all they have done is delayed the paying of water charges.
Has anyone heard of, in exceptional circumstances, Retrospective Legislation.0 -
The new Chief Secretary to the Treasury is Liam Byrne - he replaces
