  • Hi Guys, We Need Decisive Action. I Would Love To Stop The Traffic Outside Pci - Not Me Alone Of Course But 9,500 Investors And Their Families. The Pci Need A Bit Of Scaring Up And Made To Feel Threatened In The Same Weay As We Have Felt For 8 Weeks And For How Long Into The Future?

Any Ideas - Don't Think I'm Crazy But We're All In It Together - All 9,500 Of Us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Am Enraged And I Can Assure You That This Is The Time To Act. Let's Face The Jelly Babies In Church House!!!

Hey What About Queuing Right From Pci To Pms???

Just Indulge Me If You Think It Is A Bad Idea And Support Me If You Think It Might Work!!!!
  • Hi everyone
I'm a newbie to posting on any thread so I'm not sure what to do, but I felt I had to try to join in this discussion. I post on behalf of my parents who have money (not so much now) in pms. I know my parents would be happy to sign any petition as they feel as individuals they can't really do anything!!
Thank you to everyone who is posting on this forum as my parents are feeling very lonely and let down. Sunday 11th Jan was the first morning pms was mentioned in their church!!

    Welcome aboard theStack

This is what we need - children of Parents who have money saved to help them out.

This is the sad thing - it seems many of the Investors were older people - who perhaps don't have use to the internet and can't really keep up on this stuff. Perhaps this is the reason why it has been so quiet. Many of them don't know where to turn to.
  • I to am new to posting on this site, but i have read and agreed with alot of fellow posters. Out of interest has anyone had any support from their minster or elders in their church. I spoke to mine in November and as yet not even a prayer. I don't want to leave my church and friends but at present i can't even look at the offering plate let alone put money in it as its passed around.

We are all feeling a bit like this - but can I ask you why you didn't post before? Did you feel this could be sorted out?

Would you be willing now to petition the PCI?
  • Yes, I phoned about mid October and was told that my money was completely safe. In fact I joked that if there was any risk, would it be safer to put it under the mattress to which CF laughed and said all was ok. I feel so deceived and let down.

I never knew that money was being loaned to 'buy to let' or for 'DEVELOPMENT LAND' but I have heard that 35 million was loaned out to someone who is now bankrupt but allegedly has two other businesses on the go.

As to the Presbyterian slant, when the application form was filled in to invest money, I wonder how they checked if you were a Presbyterian. No one ever called me to confirm that I was who I said I was or belonged to the church I said I belonged to. So I wonder if this approach was also applied to borrowers. Did they check on PCI registers?

I know exactly what you mean about the offering plate.

Yes, our minister has been supportive and has read all the communication out that has come through from Church House.

I'll be honest that I felt totally patronised by the moderator's letter on Christmas Day about hardships and difficult times. Yes, caused by the PMW/ PCI (hard to separate, isn't it?)

    Whatnow?

Still waiting for groovy_jon to come back with details of Petition - bit worried - he/she hasn't been online for a while! Hope the two Donalds haven't got him/her!!!!

Think your Rally is a great idea?? As much pressure as possible.

    So:

    Petition
    Rally

    That should sort it
  • it's nice to see the report has "shaken the tree" somewhat, but to pbt112, none of this is the fault of your congregation, but of the pms 'directorship'. also the hierarchy of the pci could have picked a better time to become mute!
  • Hello all..I too am new to posting, but am so COMPLETELY DISGUSTED with how pms & pci ahve "handled" this situation..

I too called pms offices mid October and was told that my money was completely safe. NO mention that money was being loaned to 'buy to let' or for 'DEVELOPMENT LAND.
A good lot of my family have their savings in pms..My last deposit was mid Sept & they (pms) had no problem with taking off me..no doubt to give it straight over to some minister / property developer etc..I am sick to the stomach..I really do think they are taking advantage of the older prebyterians who again after my elderly Mum in Co Cavan made a phone call to a local minister (after watching the RTE news) he STILL told her all would be ok & to wait it out! We really must get the older generation involved & face up to the facts here
So I agree - petition, march on Stormont / pms &pci, basiclaly SHOUT!

Also what about the idea of refusing to vote?
