Hi all, hope someone can help me.
I am currently EMPLOYED part time for a Pizza delivery company(11 hours a week @ £5.73 ph. Total= £63.03).
I have also this week started work as a SELF EMPLOYED home delivery agent for DHL and earn £81.25 per week(of which i am left with approx £40 after petrol ETC).
We currently recieve working and child tax credits and housing/council tax benefit.
I JUST DON`T HAVE A CLUE WHAT TO DO NEXT ???????????
Do i declare to the inland revenue ???(i don`t think i will pay tax on total earnings of £103.03) if so how and when ??????. Sorry to be a bit dim but this is totally new to me. Hope someone can help me, Thanks Minty

You must phone the inland revenue and register as self-employed. Don't leave it as there is £100 fine for late registration.

A google search provided this site - it looks a little out of date, but hopefully will give you some useful information

1. You need to inform HMRC that you are self employed so that they can issue a self-assessment UTR (Unique taxpayer reference). That means they will know to issue you a tax return at the end of the tax year. Make sure you keep receipts for the expenses you incur in doing your self employment. Re your car expenses you have the option of claiming a simple 40p per mile so keep a running tally of your business mileage.
2. You also need to tell TCO so that they can adjust your total hours worked and your estimated income for 08/09. When they send you the Annual Declaration at the end of the tax year you will have to declare your income from PAYE and your self-employment profits. When HMRC send you your UTR then you have to give that to TCO too. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
