You said above people aren't born bears or bulls, but I've read some psycholgists works which makes the case people are imprinted in infancy by minute to minute events that have a heavy baring on your optimism / pessimism mix. Core traites are also passed on in genetic material.
My Mums a pessimist - her default instictive reaction is pessimistic.
We can modulate our core instincts, and yes fluctuate between being more or less bearish / bullish though.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -
Good news for a buy-to-let slum landlord is bad news for tenants I'm afraidwhat great news - i'll be able to pay off my residential offset mortgage even cheaper and probably take cash out from the offset to buy additional property for even less.
especially during the next 6 months which will be very tricky for some sellers. it's smashing news!!0 -

People can be born optimists or pessimists, but that doesn't really equate to bears and bulls. I'm generally an optimist in life, but I was pessimistic over the short term about the housing market and stockmarket and therefore became decidedly bearish about those areas, even though I was optimistic about everything else in my life.
People may be of a pessimistic bent, but still be bullish about a stockmarket and start investing. If they weren't then they would never have invested in the first place. Not many people invest in the stockmarket with the intention of losing money.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

Tut tut, why the surliness? I posted something which must unquestionably be great news for those thinking the recent cut was fantastic?

In a county which imports massively more than it exports.
Which county is that?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

I don't understand, why would a lowering of interest rates which can help a landlord, be bad news for tenants?:wall:

We holiday in the UK too (since 2006), although I don't know what he means as we find it's much more expensive to holiday here in the UK, we do it because we can enjoy having our dog with us. He's worth every extra £0
