Camcorder advice

My OH is wanting a camcorder for Xmas, I'm on a tight budget so theres really not much out there for the price I need.

My OH mentioned this one to me http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/6073166/Toshiba-Camileo-Pro-HD-Camcorder/Product.html

Looking at reviews it doesn't seem that great, I really don't have a clue whats good & what isn't, I know for that kinda price its not going to be fantastic but what's my best option?

Thanks in advance
Laura

First you need to find out what your OH wants it for.

Does he just want to shot pictures and then play it back?

How does he want to store the results?

Does he want to edit the video on a computer?

There are loads of formats and depending on his answers you can then narrow down the alternatives.
  • Hi , i actually looked at that camcorder when i purchased 1 two weeks ago (it was £105) at amazon with free delivery. I read mixed reviews about it , mainly people saying the sound was terrible. I ended up purchasing the Panasonic sdr s7 for £142 via Jessops website (through topcashback) . It uses a SD card like the Toshiba. Its absolutely tiny , about the size of a small digital camera. Up to now were v.happy with the results , like i said i've only had it 2 weeks and i'm no pro.
