Arai motorbike helmet - Double D ring issue
Has anyone got one of these types of helmet? I bought a Viper GT recently in a size small, the helmet fits like a dream and I'm over the moon with it, I have one gripe though I can't seem to do it up tight enough, it has a double d ring system but despite how hard I try it doesn't seem to fit right, I can move the helmet when done up and of course this isn't good.
Its weird though as the actual helmet fits perfectly and I think the XS would deff be too small.
Any suggestions?

If you're on about being able to move it back and forth, that's perfectly OK. If you're able to lift it so it raises slightly off your head, that isn't.0

No it slips up so my chin is a bit exposed! Very dodgy but its on the tightest it goes.We do not inherit the earth from our fathers, we borrow it from our grandchildren0

Hi Bexbox2,
Did you get to try it on before you bought it? Did the assistant check it fitted
you properly? Or did you buy online?
When you pull the strap tight through the D-rings you should
put your index and middle fingers(side-by-side) between it and
your chin and tighten it to them. It is not meant to strangle you.
Maybe an XS size would have been too small for you in an Arai, I can't say.
It could be that from top to chin, your head-size is inappropriate for the
Arai Viper design.
However, that is an expensive helmet you were buying and it is always
advisable to try other manufacturers' helmets as they are all a bit different
and fit/don't fit some people and not others because all skull shapes vary
somewhat.
If the helmet doesn't fit you correctly then it's almost worse than useless
and you will have to get one that does fit you, for own safety.
The good news: If you bought it online it may be advisable to immediately
return it.
The bad news: If you bought it on the highstreet, the retailer may not
exchange or refund you.
HTH.

Hi Frank
Well I tried it on in a shop and it was fine so then I bought it online much cheaper although it is non returnable.
I will try the thing with the fingers side by side and see if I can get it right, it does strangle me at first then feels loose afterwards its strange.
Thanks for the adviceWe do not inherit the earth from our fathers, we borrow it from our grandchildren0 -
Is the strap coming undone? I'd suggest you're possibly not doing the strap up correctly, I'va always used Arai helmets and never had a problem.
You need to feed the side without the rings through both D rings from the inside of the helmet to the outside. Then pull the D rings apart and feed the strap end through the insidering then pull tight. I've never had one come loose, despite numerous crashes.
Hope this helps!0 -
You go through the two d rings from the chin side towards the ear. Down over the top ring and through the second ring (from the ear back towards the chin.) pull tight.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4

Hi again Bexbox2,
If you bought it online you can return the helmet within 7 days
of taking delivery. To my knowledge helmets are not exempt from the
Distance Selling Regulations. See:

If the helmet slips up to expose your chin when you have the strap firmly
tightened, then the helmet is the wrong size for your head.
Or, are you saying that the strap is coming loose after you've pulled it
tight? If that is the case, then you have not got it threaded correctly
through the D-rings. As other posters to this thread have suggested.
