Where shall I buy my PC/laptop?

Just a small point - Morgan's PCs are not always refurbished machines. They have old spec items which HP etc. want to be shot of. Their website would be a good place to check for prices if nothing else.0

Basically I used to use my sisters laptop and now she needs it. So I have to buy a laptop or PC for my university halls of residence in london, I don't mind which one it is since I don't usually take my laptop around with me. I urgently need some advice on what to buy to work out the best value for money. Since sales start tomorrow I thought maybe someone could tell me where to go tomorow morning to buy a PC/laptop.
Places I know of are, www.pcworld.co.uk(which has a big sale), www.dell.co.uk(which I can get a small percentage off using my student card), https://www.dabs.co.uk, https://www.ebuyer.co.uk, https://www.amazon.co.uk.
Also I would like a big screen (although not neccessary) such as this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/electronics/B000CCB0OG/hotukdeals-21/026-8565982-9202837
but I am not sure where to get the PC from. Is there any other place I can get a better priced monitor from. Please help and reply before tomorrow if possible. Thank you
Your branch of John Lewis may stock some laptops.....one i go to gives very good service.....personally i wouldnt trust any of the online sellers to send me a laptop, ok for small or cheapish stuff or even desktops but not laptops or TFT's, although Dell are probably ok (as with any manufacturer direct)...just dont rely on their support ......
I prefer inspecting the laptop before purchase....
not always keen on pcworld as alot of them know so little about computers...only worth buying from them either during sales/offers or via online/reserve in store....annoyingly they wont discount....."hi I am about to spend over £1000.00 in your store but you say that you wont give me any discount or a small freebie?"..."thats rght"...."ok goodbye then, ill go somewhere else".....their loss....their business centre is a joke too...they have to order everything in and there is NO benefit (???).Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -

comet were advertising a £499 centrino laptop, i think it was made by compaq too (EDIT: It is actually made by Acer).
I would normally say only go to the stores to look at the laptops, but they are normally overpriced but always good to look at quality etc.
Go and have a look instores, i am not entirely sure on the spec, but for £500 you can't go too wrong for a entry centrino laptop.

EDIT: Just found it on the website, looks a superb deal !!! with dvdrw etc...
