Do any of you who is saying the card does not need top up actually work at Pret? I am Barista at Pret and u DO!! need to top up minimum of £5 before £2.10 will be added to card- we have had many people try and come in and use the free £2.10 for drink without topping up card and it gets rejected. of course u need to toip it up- £2.10 is extra for loyal pret customers not one off freebie only customers. people would be just registering hundreds of cards to have free hot drink all the time- and why would pret want that? its one card per household and min top up of £5.0

I had the card, I didn't have to top up what so ever- I just registered the card and low and behold it had £2.10 on. I can assure you I did not put any of that on myself.
I bought a cup of tea with it, and then used the rest to subsidise a further cup of tea on another day.
Hope that answers your question?0 -

I, my OH, and a few friends all registered for Pret cards, didn't top up the cards at all, and happily used the £2.10 for drinks without problems. None of our cards were rejected because we had not topped up the cards with any additional amount. This is the first time I have heard about needing to top up the cards in order to receive the £2.10 freebie.I :heart2: Waitrose0 -
When ever martin lewis spoke about the pret cards thats when the cards changed- when they were first introduced yes u could get a free coffee without topping up- but then martin lewis announced this and suddenly everybody was scamming the cards- they were designed as loyalty cards not free coffee cards (that was suppose to be just a bonus). so now pret has changed it- if u pick up a card in a pret store and register it- u wont get ur coffee until it is topped up. thats certainly the case now- not sure when pret changed it.0

Yeah, those hot ones are yum-even though aren't they now owned by MacDonalds?Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!0

McDonalds DO own a certain percentage of them, which somewhat defeats the point I have always thought.0

Thank you.0

Yes Pret sold a very small percent to Macdonalds so that they could break America, which they did. But Macdonalds have no say in ANYTHING that the company decide on. It was simply a business move so that pret could expand. Macdonalds wont sell it back though.0
