Printing online boarding passes for Ryan Air

Am travelling from Malaga to Bournemouth with Ryan Air on Friday, have printed off my online boarding pass but the barcode box on the top and bottom of the pass has not printed out, the box is blank, it just says pdf417barcode, do you think this will be accepted by Ryan Air or do I need the barcode in order to board, if I do does anyone know how to get it to print out. Many thanks

  • I will fly net week so I interested in this too. (hope to not have any problems this will be my first cheap flight with Ryanair)

And i have a question too, if anyone answers this thread maybe they answer me too, so I don't have to put a new thread : if you do online check-in how much time before do you have to be at the airport? at normal flights check-in you have to be 2 hours before the flight... but if you already did the online check-in? Will 30 min be enough? (one hour?) I am flying from Stanstead.

Have you got Adobe Acrobat on your PC, if not try downloading the free reader.

I wouldn't leave less than 45 mins to get through security at any airport.

Adobe Acrobat has nothing to do with the missing barcode.

The boarding pass is presented to the staff at the security gates, not the Ryanair checkin desk, and the barcode is required to retrieve your details from the computer. Your only option is to keep trying and if it still doesn't work you'll just have to arrive early and get a boarding pass issued by the Ryanair checkin desk, as jillie1974 says.

I've had a few mad dashes through Stansted (I have never yet missed a flight), but I wouldn't advise it... security queues are often quite long and it can take a while to get from security to the gate. I would generally plan for 1 hour.

As already stated you need the barcode. Not for Ryanair specifically, but you will need it to get through airport security. They will NOT let you through without it, they have to scan it to check your details, part of the online check-in procedures.

As others have said, if you have a problem with your printed Ryanair boarding pass, a quick trip to Ryanair check-in, they will give you another one, no charge. However bear in mind time, happened to a friend of mine at East Midlands. We'd got there with acres of time, although the security queue was so long that even we were pushing it, and when security couldn't scan his pass he had to make a mad dash back to check-in. Kudos to EMA security they let him queue jump the second time.... but he would have missed the flight if they hadn't!!

Try again, you can reprint them anwyay, try another computer if need be. If it still doesn't work, arrive in plenty of time and go to Ryanair check-in with your boarding pass, explain the problem and get a new one....

Times will vary: all that is certain is that you must be at your departure gate by the time specified. Last week I found thirty minutes was easily enough to pass through security and reach the gate at Stansted, and also at Weeze. Next week? I have no idea.
