Even better, get Argos to phone the manufacturer on their phone bill
Yeah hopefully they will be open on the weekend but again they could be away now for Xmas and not back till the new year:(
I have emailed them to ask for advice so we will see what they say.
What happens if i do just change the adaptor i take it that's that then nothing will go wrong as in it's not wired for the US or anything and what do you mean don't leave it connected?Darren0 -
gizmoleeds wrote:Sorry - European devices run at 230 or 240 volts. This runs at 120 and so isn't suitable to be connected to British electrical supplies without a transformer (which would cost around £30 and weigh several kilos
).
maplins have got them at 4.99 (60% off) but check the wattage on the original power adaptor as this one is 45w

This is where i sound dumb but i can't see anywhere on the pulg that says the wattage:o
I'll tell you exactly what it says on it:
AC ADAPTOR
Plug-in class 2 transformer
Model:JOD-48U-42
Input:AC 120V 60Hz 115mA
Output:DC 9V 1.5ADarren0 -
gizmoleeds wrote:Don't worry about it - I was wrong to originally suggest getting a transformer as that was before I knew it was not attached to the Santa.
If you buy a transformer you will effectively be performing two conversions - from 240 to 120, then from 120 to 9.
It will be simpler to get a normal voltage convertor which goes straight from 240 to 9.
(like the Argos one I showed you)
Thanks very much for your help Gizmoleeds and all others that helped:)
I'm not sure whether to take him back tomorrow as he's back in his box now looking all sad with his head chopped off:(:snow_laug
Or i might leave it until at least Monday and see if i can contact the people that made/sent it to Argos in the first place you never know they might be nice and send a replacement adaptor out?(i assume that's all i need then just the right adaptor?)
Thanks again:)Darren0 -

Just to update i called Argos today and they were their usual helpful selfs;)

Dalkirst wrote:I managed to get one of the 5ft Santa's today and it's the only one anywhere around here...but it's got the wrong AC adaptor in it.There's a 2 pin in there which i assume is European:(
Does anyone know what's the best thing to do now as i don't want to give it back and as i said there aren't any more around here.Do you think if i called Argos they would send out the right adaptor or even if i called the people that provide them to Argos which is based in Essex same as me they might send the right one?
Or can you buy them in Homebase/B&Q?
If anyone has got one and can tell me or provide me with a link to the correct one to buy then that would be great:)
Many thanks
The 5' Santa adapter says the following...
Model: TEAD-48-091500VB1
PRI: 230V 50Hz 144mA
SEC: 9V 1.5A 13.5VA
Hope that helps.
Edit: Just seen they've got one at Colchester. Why not reserve that and tell your store to get it for you?0 -
