Intergrating 2 new rescue cats in tiny flat!

Hi

I have 2 resident cats who are allowed out, and am taking on 2 rescues who previously lived together. My problem is that I don't have a spare room where I can put the new cats, as my flat is tiny. I do have a crate, but it would have to go in a room where the resident cats will also have access to.

Basically I just wondered if anyone had any advice on how to make the integration as stress free as possible for both sets of cats! It wouldn't be a problem if I had a spare room, but the set up of my flat makes it impossible to keep the resident cats away from any one area

First off - your heart is certainly in the right place so please don't take offence at this but why take on two more cats when you're obviously very limited on space in your flat?

I'm only taking them on temporarily, with a view to finding them forever homes. Their owners are leaving the country, and the local rescues are full to the brim & have no room. It's all happened rather quickly, hence my lack of organisation!

I assume your flat has a living area, a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen?
Could you put them into the bathroom temporarily? At least for somewhere to sleep at night?

If they're only going to be with you on a temporary basis, then it seems futile introducing them to your two just for them to be uprooted and move on again?
Could you pen off an area in your living room with cardboard or wood for example and put the crate in there? I reckon a large carboard box 'undone' would go from floor to ceiling. As I have no idea what the layout of your flat is, I'm a bit stuck for suggestions!

hmm - thats a thought.. the only room which realistically has room for the crate is the bedroom... I could keep my 2 out of there during the day easily, and maybe lock them in the living room & kitchen at night.... They usually sleep on the bed, but I'm sure they'd cope for a few nights

To be honest although I'm hoping they'll only be with me temporarily, there seems to be LOADS of cats up for rehoming in the area at the moment (shop windows, freecycle, vets etc as well as legit rescues) so I'm a bit concerned about finding them somewhere....

I've put them in the bedroom and everyone is happy Don't know why I couldn't figure it out myself - my brain was obviously not in gear this morning
