Dell taking the mick? Should I cancel my order?

Hi people of MSE.

I ordered some headphones as an early bday present from the OH. I wanted them to be delivered in time for Gears of War 2 launch so I could take advantage of the awesome sounds.

However my estimated delivery date has been changed twice. I ordered on the 27 Oct first date of delivery was 4th Nov. Fair enough then I get another two changes of dates now making the estimated date 24th Nov!

This is taking the mick a bit, so i am thinking of cancelling my order and just going to buy them from PC world albeit an extra 2 quid. What are dell like with resolving problems/cancelling orders?

Any comments would be much appreciated thanks.

  • I haven't cancelled an order with them though I did ring to change my laptop order the day after it was ordered on the net.

I had changed my mind and wanted to upgrade my RAM to 2gb as opposed to 1gb (bought 2 years ago). They told me they couldn't do it as the parts had been ordered, I complained and they gave me £30 as a "sorry".

To be honest, they lost the revenue from additional RAM and then paid me £30, it would have been much better just to upgrade me but there you go, thats my experience of their customer service.

    Have they charged you yet?

Dell are usually pretty good they must have a supply problems on the headphones, if you need them quickly ring up and cancell and buy elsewhere
  • If they do give you hassle then quote the distance selling regulations where they change the date and you do not agree to it. They are then legally bound to provide a refund.
