Device manager says d drive is working properly but won't read any media.
It's a Phillips CDRW/DVD SCB5265
Any ideas?

Have you switched your computer off (not just restart) and then back on again?
You could try disabling and then re-enabling the device as well.0 -
I've tried turning laptop off, uninstalled and reinstalled, and restored it to yesterdays settings. Nothing helps so far.0

A bit of a long shot but have you check for firmware updates?
My Dell desktop sometimes fails to see drives and then just as suddenly are fine again, with no apparent explanation.0 -
Hi
Right click on drive, select properties, then select Autoplay, then select Action to perform, set it to what you want the drive to do when you insert a disc, you can also restore defaults from here as well. Also if you go into Hardware, you can highlight your drive, select properties or troubleshooting.
Hope this helps
Merry Christmas
