DVD recorder - no picture.

I've bought a Sony RDR-HX510 with HDD. Connected it all up and there is no picture. I pnoned the sont 0870 number (shudder) but they are on holiday until January. Can anyone help?

Set up is; sky decoder into DVD rec into TV using scart leads. No tv aerial just sky decoder (so program search finds nothing). Tried various set up options on easy set up. It will play DVDs which I can watch so it is connected. Menu's etc come up on screen but the TV screen is just white and if you record onto DVD it just records static. Any idea's anyone.
Regards

Does your Tv have a component input, it looks like 3 phono plugs that are coloured red, green and blue?. If you do set it up with that as your dvd player has them and its a better picture, but for your problem maybe change the av channel on your Tv remote.
  • Just for the sake of checking everything put the tv aeriel directly into dvd recorder and search for channels.
When you are on tv are you checking AVI AV2 channels etc on remote.

There isn't a tv aerial, I just use the sky decoder.

    Anyway, I sorted it eventually.

You plug the scart lead to the TV into the plug marked decoder.
You plug the decoder into the scart plug marked TV.

    How insane is that?
