Hi,
I have recently transfered a property that i own into my wifes name. It is an ex council house, which up until Feb of this year was occupied by a relative whos name was on the lease (I was the legal owner). The properrty has been empty since my relative passed away.
We have decided to rent this property. I contacted the council to inform them of the situation and was told that the lease did not have to be changed, however, I would have to make a payment of £50 admin charge to get permisission to let the property.
I have since received a letter saying that my wife needs to also in accordance of the terms of the lease provide a notice of transfer and that there is a £75 charge from the new lessee. I have had a quick look at the original lease and could not see any reference to a £75 for notice of transfer. Can someone advise whether this is correct and that the amount requested is reasonable and how we go about getting a notice of transfer?
