Problems opening web pages

I've noticed a couple of problems whilst surfing in the last two days:
If I do a google search and click on something that comes up on the list. The page starts to load but then somehow gets diverted to a completely different site.
When some websites that visit I more frequently are loading they seem to get stuck. Only part of the page loads (usually just the top) and/or I get code in boxes instead of loading completely. Combined with this is "Error on page" in the bottom left corner of internet explorer or "Done" when the page only partially loads.
Any ideas?

Sounds like spyware or similar. If you're using Internet Explorer, you could download Firefox as an alternative in the meantime, which shouldn't be affected by whatever has infected your system.
To fix the problem, you need to run an antispyware scanner or two. There are good general rules on the sticky at the top of the Techie forum, but downloading and running a full scan of malwarebytes would be a good starting point.Russia is HERE0 -
vyseyboy thanks for your earlier reply.
I can't download & run Firefox, malwarebytes or other antisypware that I've tried. I keep getting "...is not a valid win32 application " message or "corrupt file download again"
Interestingly when they're downloading it jumps from estimated time 3 minutes to done within a few seconds - is this another symptom of the problem?
Have run avast and Defender full scans but nothing was identified by them.0 -
In a moment of inspiration this morning I tried downloading on a different computer and transfering to mine using USB stick. Running a few scans seemed to identify a number of dodge items (I feel so used and dirty!) which once delt with seems to have fixed my problems.
Thanks for help here and in the very useful sticky too.:beer:0
