When I try to play a download with Nero Showtime ... I get the message to enable Direct Draw Acceleration. When I go into dxdiag.exe and tab display to do this it is showing all directX features not available.
What can I do to solve this ?? Is this a hardware problem ??
Thank you so much if anyone can enlighten me here.

Sounds like either your graphics drivers are out of date or you need to download the latest version of directX.
Google directX to download the latest, and go to your graphics card's manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers.Russia is HERE0 -
Tried downloading DirectX through microsoft website and message that setup could download this file.
Acessing video controller ... telling me it has a problem and cant update etc. Code 28 drivers not installed and wont let me reinstall as I dont have floppy disc which I presume was something done by manufacturer.
Googled and found this for code 28 ....
... recommended solution not working .....does that mean i have to obtain updated drivers?? Am I able to do that or buy that ??Code 28The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28).Solution button: Reinstall Driver
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver
This code means the device was not installed completely.
To resolve this issue, follow the recommended solution. If that does not work, try removing the device from Device Manager and using the Add New Hardware wizard to redetect it. You may need to obtain updated drivers if the error still occurs.
Thank you for any help I am way out of my depth here.0 -
OK, the first step is to identify which graphics chip / graphics hardware you have.
If you run dxdiag as before, and go to the display tab, what does it say under device name, and chip type, in the top left corner?
It'll most likely be made by Nvidia, ATI or Intel, and all you'll have to do is visit their website's support section to download up to date drivers for free. This should sort your video problem.Russia is HERE0 -

it is telling me unknown atchitecture in pop up box ... then ...... no information under tabs - display graphics card / sensor / validation
Ah realised that on top of hard drive wee sticker telling me Intel Celeron D 356 (3.33 GHz) ..... so went into Intel download website and downloaded driver for Windows XP ... downloaded but seemed to duplicate what was already on my system!! Went into a WINRAR file and when i pressed open it seems to duplicate what is already on my system ..... So somehow or other it must be disabled but I cannot work out where / how etc!
I really notice it with simple things like scrolling through web pages my screen jumps rather than run smoothly!
Any help would be really appreciated before said computer goes out window ...lol0 -
The intel badge that's on your case is referring to the main CPU, not the graphics. Now that you mention jumpy screen scrolling, I'm almost certain that the problem is the graphics drivers - sounds like you're using the generic winXP ones, which will make the display work, but very basically, and not as truly intended.
So you still need to find out what graphics hardware is in your system.
If you have a tower case, you could take the side panel off and physically look at the card / device that the monitor cable plugs into, checking for a manufacturer and model number.
However the monitor cable might not seem to plug into any particular discrete device, and might go straight into the mainboard... in which case you have onboard graphics, and things become a bit more tricky to identify.
In the meantime, go start > settings > control panel > System > hardware tab > device manager, expand "display adapters" > right click whatever comes up, and go to properties, details tab and scroll down to "Device instance ID" or "Hardware ID's"
What we're lookng for is two alphanumeric codes which identify the make and model of the hardware - the entries should contain something like
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_00F1
That's mine, for an Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT.
let us know what your codes are, and we can find the driver download for you.Russia is HERE0 -
