dvd-rw drive not working

Hi,
As the title says im having problems loading any disc on to my dell inspiron 6400 laptop.
Whenever i put a disc in the drive just whirls around but doesn't actually load.
Any ideas?

Tried a disc cleaner?:idea:0

I,ve tried an installation disc for a web cam and a dvd so far.0

do into control panel, then system , then ardware tab , then device manager
look down the list for the drive and uninstall it and let it redetectEx forum ambassador
