Well, where do I start...
Lemme see, the port was lovely... yes... WAS... at least half of it just evaporated while I wasn't looking, honest. So a shameless plug for Warre's Warrior, Special Reserve port. It's gorgeous!
The cooking all went well, in fact it was perfect. Right up until the time I discovered that I'd baked the mince pies without any lids on! So I baked them separately and will glue them on later.
Lazy start to the morning now, presents all open; and Sally has a lovely jar for keeping feeding treats in and also, a gadget for opening things with pop off lids and twisty lids AND... though she doesn't know it, a handy bit which catches pills when you pop them out of a blister pack and another bit that will help to halve them! heh heh
Anyway... it's time to go and put the HM Christmas pud, sent down by my sister, into the Slow Cooker...
..thanks you all for your kind wishes... (it's a competition to try and make me blush again innit?) and be sure that I wish each and every one a nice and pleasant day. If you get stressed I've found that locking yourself in the kitchen and making yourself a sherry trifle (one drop of sherry for the sponge, one swig for me, is about the right formula) and of course you hide all the other spoons so no one else can have any when it's done.
I'm going to try mine with ginger wine this year. I think it'll work
Merry Christmas.

Just been watching The Importance of being Earnest
I've had a really nice day. Unfortunately some swine drank all my port yesterday, and then scattered loads of pots and pans and dishes all over the kitchen this afternoon. I'm going to have serious words with whoever it was as soon as I catch them! I think your board is absolutely fantastic and you keep it running as smoothly as a elfs bottom.
I hope you enjoyed your Christmas in the right and proper way and consumed far too much of everything.
Its good to see you being appreciated for all the hard work you do on MSE and especially the way you keep some of the naughtier posters under control with your very scary harumph!
Have a fantastic Christmas Squeaks and a successful new year
