old bottle of Whisky - what can I do with it?

Hi there
I have a bottle of Whisky lurking in my cupboard, it is more than 4 years old and unopened so I assume it is still ok? it was a gift, but i dont like Whisky to drink, are there any good recipies out there to use it up, have thought of making Baileys type drink, but cant find the recipe, or cakes or fudge with Whisky in? any ideas - simple ones please :rotfl: possibly with a christmas theme

  • I'd just add it to a Christmas cake or any rich fruitcake in place of brandy, or in place of whatever spirit is used in your favourite Christmas pud recipe.

Don't worry about using it up quickly -it really isn't going to go off -it's whisky ;)

I like to have it in for hot toddies when I have a cold. Hot water, whiskry, lemon juice and honey.
  • whisky and honey ice cream is my favourite. havent got the recipe to hand right now, it is at home and i am at my daughters but will post it soon as i can, early next week.

It'll taste fine! I'd second the idea of using in your Christmas cake. On the other hand if you don't like it - why not donate it to a local raffle - it'd be a star prize and won't have cost you anything IFYWIM

  • Save it for January when the Seville oranges come, and make whisky marmalade ;)Lemon whisky cake is good, too - I soak sultanas in the whisky for the cake :D
