Investment Statements-all bad news

I know it is the same for everyone but it is depressing to receive PEP/ISA etc
statements showing current values. Advisers say that in the long run one will
always do better in the stock market and none of us expected the markets to drop like they have. Just hope I am around long enough to see it go back up again?

My mother's finance manager told her to bin her investment statements without looking at them for the next few years
. He said it will save her some grief and she can worry about it when the money is no longer tied up (7 more years) ... 0 -
A lot of the statements being received at the moment are actually valued back in October when the markets were at their lowest. There has been some recovery since then but I wonder how many will make snap decisions on out of date information that happened to pick the worst time possible.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Yes there is. Those that invested towards the end of October have seen some very good gains. Some up in the 20-30% range although 8-10% is more typical.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The ftse100 was briefly showing a 20% gain from end of last month which would have qualified it as a bull market apparently0

Hello Dunstonh, Wise words as usual! I am not going to sell anything and have been filing them away. I keep looking at my portfolio list and it has gone up lately same as some of my individual shares like BG which was getting towards £10 yesterday after being well down. No intention of sounding morbid but seven years as mentioned by someone else is a long time for me so I am going to tell my heirs to keep these investments which I believe would be possible. Wonder if they will?0 -
£100 a month since September. Lowest its been was -40%. Now its -17%.
Slowly should be getting back up, but every month it goes down I buy more units per £! So can't complain there.

I hate it when it goes up just before the buy date and back down after, it'd be good if it was 100 a month and you get to decide when it goes in. Is there such a scheme, I guess not
But overall yea in theory it should pan out though its depressing to look short term obviously
I read the russian stockmarket rose 40% from its recent low, might have lost it again now but still impressive0 -
