Hello
Looking for some help on behalf of friend. She had a hbos current account, which her wages go into every week, she had £200 arrange o/draft. She went to the bank a couple of days ago, to find she was £107 overdrawn( a couple of days before her pay day) And the bank have removed her overdraft?
She didn't have a letter etc.. to say that they would be doing this?
Just querying if the bank can just remove that facility from an account, or are they meant to write and let her know?
thanks

Yes, they can remove it as and when they please. If you read the terms and conditions of the account, it will no doubt say that they can review it at their discretion, remove it at their discretion or demand full repayment as and when they choose. Unless HBOS is different to every other bank, I suppose.
As a reminder, an overdraft is supposed to be for emergencies and for "living in" - it's not a good sign if you go into it every month. What would William Shatner do?0 -
They send out a letter automatically towards the end of an annual arrangement.
Has she changed her address recently?
Or does she just chuck out what looks like junk mail?
Has she checked her paperless letters online?
No bank is obliged to leave her with an overdraft indefinitely.0
