Hi there, just got a new job for an American company and I will be paid in US dollars. I have opened a Halifax International online US dollar account to receive my dollar income.
I want to be able to transfer funds from this account to my Halifax UK current account and I am told that this is not possible online!
Does anybody know of an online international US dollar account that I can transfer funds from to my UK current account?
Thanks

I had a Chase premier checking account, and i could set up a USD / GBP transfer facility after submitting endless documents.
Alternatively how about a Travelex personal transfer account. See thier website.0 -

Yes - HSBC International in Jersey. You can have both US$ and Sterling offshore accounts with them and transfer money between them. You can transfer to any onshore account but it will cost you the CHAPS fee. To avoid this, you need to become a premier customer and open an onshore HSBC current account. Doing this, you can transfer between your accounts almost instantaneously. In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Thanks - that looks like a canny option!0

The real disadvantage would be the eligibility criteria. I get it free for my role in the bank, but normally you'd need at least £50k in savings to qualify or a large mortgage.I am a Chartered Financial Planner

Have you tried Citibank UK? I have a US$ current account and £ account and can transfer between them.0

if yo are actually working & living in the States this will be useless for paying bills, writing checks etc. You will also need a domestic US account for such things.
Where will you be working?0 -
