Just to get a break from Icesave......What features would you like on online Accounts

This will probably get lost under the Icesave 2nd e-mail and where now for Icesave money, but what features do you think Online Accounts are missing.
One I feel is transparency of Interest rates. We open an account knowing it's rate but over time they change (generally downwards).
I'd like to see the current rate displayed for each account we hold somewhere in the online banking page of our banks.
Halifax do it, but not for every account. Some banks don't do it at all we have to search through their interest rate tables, sometimes for closed accounts.
I realise it's because they hope we'll be complacent and leave our money earning lower rates than they could.
Any other wants?

I think the online accounts are lacking decent customer services. If you have a problem it can be very difficult trying to get through to someone who can help resolve it. Being on hold for 20 minutes with Kaupthing Edge the day before they went bust is one example.0 -
I have found Eggs online thing is quite good. Send a message stating a problem and usually its fixed, or instructions to fix, the next day. Sometimes obviously its not though...
However Egg have limited range of products (I suggested maybe they do investments but this is limited to 2 things.. ).
But their Egg MM is decent. Can't really fault Egg, never had problems with them!
But I agree with the Interest Rates thing, but I think it really only applies to savings.0 -
Being part of the faster payment system would be good.In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0

I agree with the secure messaging on Egg, used it a few times and is great if you don't need an instant reply.
My current A/C is with Smile they have secure messaging too, usually get reply within 24 hours.0 -
Agree strongly with the interest rates! But I'm sure that's not a unique failing of online accounts - it's been a while, but I don't remember the rate being obvious on accounts I've opened up by visiting a bank in person (not after the initial opening, anyway).Target Cash Net Worth: £25K by January 2012
Progress May-08 19.0%; May-09 40.0%; May-10 63.0%; May-11 58.4%; Jun-11 58.5%; Jul-11 58.9%; Aug-11 58.7%; Sep-11 59.0%

Maybe the Banking code needs altering.
I heard on the TV the other night Banks are going to have to 'tow the line' on certain things from next year. Didn't catch the details though.0 -

Funny you mention this, because I was thinking exactly that today. I opened a second esavers account at Natwest, and when I went inside my online banking I was wondering about the exact rate, and searched everywhere but it never says.
Sainsburys got their rate clearly identified when you enter the online bit.Being brave is going after your dreams head on0 -

Customised page layout and colour schemes could easily be an option
But...just for fun?
how about if you hover over menu items, they play 'instant' sampled recorded messages,
similar to AOL's Joanna Lumley, "you have mail" or on Tesco's checkout
you could have a LOT of fun with those, i'll leave the content to your own imagination
and maybe a choice of preset voice styles in various foreign/regional/local/social/class dialects and accents,
plus other genres, such as rap artists, film stars, singers, famous people etc etc
or even record your own voice samples,
ahh.. the list is endless
or....how about a 'one armed bandit' option?
when you make a withdrawal they offer you 'double or quits' :beer:0 -
