I've heard that it's possible to instal a Linux OS onto an Xbox 360 and it'll work like a computer...If that's right does anyone know how to do it and could it invalidate the guarantee?
I've tried DSL but no luck.(Don't tell them)
Just bye the way and with reference to a previous post, game files can only be transfered by microsoft's overly expensive memory card. The Sandisk 360 pen drive is no better than my cheaper Kingston at transfering music and images.
Thanks,
D.

I know the original xbox can. But dont think the 360 can as yet, until a mod chip is made for it.0

not sure about the xbox 360, but i have done this on my PS3 without invalidating the warranty.
i have ubuntu on my ps3, but i wouldnt use it as normal PC as its so slow0 -
Many thanks, What linux did you use on the XBox djheath?
Maybe Ubunto is too demanding for your PS3 Gaming Guy or maybe I'm expecting too much!!0 -

Interesting djheath. I imagine that it may be difficult getting the game now and it may be tricky keeping the XBox gaming facility but I would think that XBoxes will be "as cheap as chips" now it may be worth a go.0

Enormous thread on Xbox original modding and XBMC here
Definately worth the hassle, if you ask me, (I've got two, one chipped running Xebian linux as a web server, the other softmodded with XBMC and Xebian installed as an application, for media, gaming, and a bit of TV-based web browsing (home made USB ports for keyboard and mouse.))
GAME were selling Xbox's second hand not too long ago for £9.99 - I think this was to purge them of the remains of their stock, however, and they'll almost certainly be all out of them by now.Russia is HERE0 -

It's everything to do with the fact that you need a PowerPC version and Ubuntu doesn't have a native one. Add to that the fact there's no graphics drivers, a PS3 only has 512MB RAM and a slow laptop HDD and you have what you have.0
